Constituency

Dr.CVB was elected to the Tamil Nadu Assembly in the 2011 and 2016 legislative elections. During his term as MLA, Viralimalai Constituency has seen a major transformation with the implementation of various developmental schemes and projects.

CVB’s primary focus was on enhancing the Education and Health Facilities besides making Water facility available for drinking and agriculture across his constituency and the Pudukkottai District

Education

The focus on improving the Education paved way for various educational institutions in the District & Constituency. His high regard for quality education and its accessibility also meant that the Pudukkottai district got its own Medical College in 2017. The new Medical College was dedicated by the Honourable CM Thiru. Edappadi K. Palaniswami at a project cost of Rs.230 Crores.

A college of agriculture in Kudimiyanmalai, Arts and Science College at Karambakudi, Polytechnic at Gandarvakkottai, the ITI at Viralimalai and the proposed Govt Dental College are examples for CVB’s efforts for developing the education sector. The list goes on with the strengthening of quality & infrastructural development for the amelioration of Govt Schools, upgradation of schools from Primary to Higher Secondary Schools and approvals for examination centers.
Health Sector​

Dr CVB’s most notable achievement for Pudukkottai is the Medical College with state of the art infrastructure that gives the public access to world-class treatment. Dr.CVB upgraded the standards of existing hospitals and established new Primary Health Centres. The addition of newer equipment is on par with Urban Health Care.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, world-class medical care was given through exclusive Covid facility, Covid Care Centres, Siddha Centres.

Dream Projects​

CVB’s vision for providing drinking water to all the households in Viralimalai Constituency was implemented through the historical Cauvery Combined Drinking Water Scheme for all villages at a Project Cost of Rs.320 Crores. 395 villages in Annavasal Union, 504 villages in Viralimalai Union, and 48 villages in Kundrandarcoil are benefitted from this scheme.

The Cauvery – Vaigai – Gundar River Linking Project is a century-old dream of every farmer in the district. With the completion of this project, the drylands of Pudukkottai will turn lush and prosperous. Hundreds of water bodies will receive water augmenting the groundwater level. The government has allocated Rs.700 crores for the first phase of the project. The estimated period for the completion of the project is five years.

One of the notable initiatives is the SIPCOT Industrial Estate for the district. The Viralimalai constituency got an infrastructural revamp with laying the motorable road for Viralimalai Murugan Temple, Guest House for Pilgrimage and Travellers Bangalow at Viralimalai Murugan temple, Entrance Arch at the World famous Chithannavasal Heritage Site.

Several government offices, courts have been established during CVB’s term as MLA.
Bus Depots, Marriage Halls, Libraries, Community Halls, Mobile Ration Shops, Direct Paddy Purchase Centres, Veterinary hospitals, Tamil Nadu Housing Board Scheme, Underground Sewage lines are other projects.

As a champion of the necessitous, he has always been committed to the people of his Constituency. A humble man, he still supervises critical operations all over the state and personally attends to the needy in his precious personal time.
